The Admiral

Description
This dramatic war story tells about a naval battle in late October 1597 in Myeongryang, Korea. The story appeared when the Japanese army was invading the Joseon dynasty and the Aronson defeated on all fronts. On the other hand, Admiral Yi Sanxin must boost the morale of the soldiers in an unprecedented battle against 330 warships from Japan, where Josun Castle is at risk of falling into the hands of the Japanese.

There's a commanding sense of scale and heft on screen; one achieved without sacrificing coherency or personal stakes.

The sea battles are absolutely epic, more realistic and thrilling than John Woo's 2008 "Red Cliff" or even Peter Weir's 2003 "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World."
